I chose to study Japanese because I found that after years of living outside of Japan and not studying Japanese, I felt quite disconnected from the culture and language. I'm excited to be studying Japanese in a formal setting and learning about the mechanics of the language from the ground up, which I never really had the opportunity for before.
After the first month of class, I have found that knowing when to use which conjunctions and translating English into katakana can be quite difficult. Hopefully, I'll have my は、で、and にs properly sorted out soon and will be able to tell when a word requires a "ー" and when it doesn't.
I'm looking forward to expanding my vocabulary and learning new kanji!
